Description
Triclosan is a white powdered solid with a slight aromatic/phenolic odor. It is a polycholoro phenoxy phenol. It is slighly soluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, diethyl ether and stronger basic solutions. It has been shown to be effective in reducing and controlling bacterial contamination. Uses: In soaps, deodorants, toothpastes, shaving creams, mouthwashes, and cleaning supplies and is infused in a number of consumer products including kitchen utensils, toys, bedding, socks, and trash bags, and in the control of MRSA (methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus) outbreaks.
