A colorless, crystalline compound that is efflorescent, and monoclinic. Uses: As a titrant in iodometry, a component in iodine clock experiments, in photographic processing, an alternative to lixiviant to cyanid for the extraction of gold, an antidote to cyanide poisoning, in bleach, leather tanning and in pH testing of bleach substances.
