Description

Also known as ethanoyl chloride, acetyl chloride is an “acid chloride” derived from acetic acid. Acetyl chloride does not exist in nature, because upon contact with water it hydrolizes into acetic acid and hydrogen chloride. It is used in acylation processes such as esterification and the Friedel-Crafts Reaction. CAS # 75-36-5
