A clear liquid with an ammonia-like odor. It is toxic, flammable, and corrosive. Uses: In sweetening natural gas and coal gas, as soaps or amides in heavy-duty detergents, in the production of ethylene amines, in aqueous solutions for scrubbing certain acidic gases, in feedstock in the production of detergents, emulsifiers, polishes, pharmaceuticals, corrosion inhibitors, and chemical intermediaries.
