There are two premium types of methocel, specifically methylcellulose (MC) and hypromellose. Both types have the polymeric backbone of cellulose, which is a natural carbohydrate that is based on a repeating structure of anhydrous units. Uses: As a binder in the wet granulation of tablet products, in cream, ointment, suspension formulations, including ophthalmic preparations as a viscosity modifier, in tablet sealing.
